Concord Rangers have today released a statement revealed that Sammy Moore’s reign as player-manager of the Beachboys has come to an end with the National League South side citing “ongoing personal reasons” being the reason behind the former-Leyton Orient player’s departure.
A club statement released said:
“Unfortunately, Sammy has been asked to step down as first team manager due to ongoing personal problems.
“We would like to take this opportunity to wish him all the best for the future.
“Jack Midson, Darren Beale, Danny Scopes and Adam Drew have been asked to remain at the club and we await their decisions.“Further news will be released later this week.”
Moore joined the 52-year old club last summer following a successful season at Isthmian Premier side Leatherhead of which he oversaw a run to the FA Cup 2nd Round Proper before losing to Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park. Jack Midson also joined the club as player-assistant manager whilst Darren Beale copied suit last summer.
Moore brought in an almost-entirely new squad with 2 first team regulars from the 2017/18 season staying on board in the form of Adam Topley and Jed Smith whilst a host of ex-professional players such as Lee Minshull, Sam Beasant, Danny Green and Billy Knott were all recruited to join the club this season.
The Beachboys managed to finish in 6th place with 70 points earned on Saturday with a 2-1 victory at Eastbourne Borough but before that, were informed a few days prior that they weren’t able to take part in the National League South play-offs due to not having the minimum of 500 seats installed at their Thames Road home.
Moore had been brought in last summer to replace Adam Flanagan who had endured a 3 year stay at the club following his move from Isthmian North side Brentwood Town in the summer of 2015.
