The Blues must overturn a 2-1 deficit from the first leg in Lyon and will have to be at their very best to get past the French side if they are to reach their first Champions League final.
Lyon have won the tournament five times since 2011 and will reach their eighth final in nine years if they can avoid defeat against Chelsea at Kingsmeadow.
They have reigned supreme in the competition during this decade and will look to continue their dominance.
An own goal from Magdelena Eriksson and Amandine Henry’s flick from a corner gave Lyon a 2-0 lead before Fran Kirby’s penalty was saved on the stroke of half-time. Erin Cuthbert halved the deficit with a superb half-volley to give Emma Hayes’ side hope.
The first-leg result means Chelsea will progress to the final in Budapest on 18 May if they win Sunday’s second leg 1-0 or by two goals or more if Lyon score.
Chelsea are third in the league meaning that they will only be playing in the Champions League again next season if they win the competition.
Tickets for the huge clash had sold out but a few returned tickets are now back on sale. For fans who can’t make it to the game, they can watch it live on Chelsea TV and The 5th Stand (2pm KO).
