Former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda woke up on Thursday morning to find himself jobless after being released by FC Zurich in a peculiar manner.
The Swiss club stated on Twitter that there had been “mutual agreement” over the 38-year-old’s departure, but the former Champions League winner seemed to be unaware of this decision by replying to the Club’s announcement.
A World Cup runner-up with France in 2006, Malouda moved to Chelsea from Lyon in 2007, winning the Premier League, Champions League and also the FA Cup three times during his stay at Stamford Bridge.
The 38-year-old joined FC Zurich two months ago to work alongside their attackers and youth ranks but, less than two months into the job, the former French international has had his duties with the club removed.
