“Generous” Mandzukic extends Juventus stay till 2021

Croatian forward Mario Mandzukic has signed a new two year deal to Juventus to keep him at the Italian Champions until 2021. The striker’s previous contract had another year left to run but the announcement on Thursday ties him in with the Turin club for a further year. In a statement on their website, Juventus said:

“We are talking about a champion with a CV among the richest in Europe. One who plays by example. An example that will continue to provide Juventus for two more years.”

Since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2015, Mario Manduzkic has played an integral part to the club’s success in recent years. The 32 year-old has won three Serie A titles and as many Coppas Italia, contributing 43 goals in 159 appearances.

This season Mario Mandzukic has acted as the perfect foil for the incoming Cristiano Ronaldo, often playing wider to allow the Portuguese star to flourish centrally. His unselfishness and willingness to work for the team has been appreciated from supporters and the club.

“Generosity is a rare gift in attackers, yet Mandzukic blatantly refutes the cliché. The signal of unselfishness, which acts as a multiplier of effectiveness for the companions.”

Confirming the news on his Instagram, Mario Mandzukic was delighted to extend his current deal:

“It is a big honour to play for this amazing club that really cares about it’s players and fight with my current teammates for our brilliant supporters! I am grateful to the club management led by chairman Andrea Agnelli and the coaching staff led by Massimiliano Allegri for their respect and trust in this agreement.

As always, I’ll reward that faith by giving maximum effort every time I step on the pitch in our famous Bianconeri jersey. Forza Juve!”

Juventus currently sit top of Serie A and are on course to win their eighth consecutive title with the side 18 points points clear.
