Jessica Samuelsson has left Arsenal Women to join Rosengard FC.
The Swedish defender leaves the Women’s Super League leaders having made 10 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Her last game was against Liverpool on Sunday when she came off the bench, during her time with the Gunners she has suffered setback after setback from her original foot injury.
That meant after only two starts she was on the physio table after her goalkeeper fell on top of her during international duty.
The 27-year-old broke two metatarsal bones and tore ligaments in her foot, which meant she missed 10 months in total after a series of complications in the rehabilitation phase. After returning in winter she again was in a cast, with her not being able to catch a break.
Before coming to England the defender was part of the Sweden squad that won silver medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Samuelsson joined Arsenal in 2017 from Linkopings, ahead of the 2017/18 season, but she has now decided to return to her native Sweden.
A statement on the official Arsenal website read: “We would like to thank Jessica for her dedication and commitment during her time at the club – and wish her the very best of luck at Rosengard FC.”
The 27-year-old has been a Sweden international since 2011. It is still unclear whether she will make a recovery to play for her country at this year’s World Cup.
Sweden are in Group F for the Women’s World Cup in France this summer, where they will face the United States, Chile and Thailand.
