Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest have received the green-light to proceed with developments plans after an agreement for an extended lease with the City Council was agreed.
The Club hope to redevelop the existing City Ground along with the surrounding area. The main focus of redevelopment will see a new Peter Taylor Stand dubbed to be “world class” along with improvements to the Trentside area, Brian Clough and Bridgford Stands.
The City Ground has not undergone major development work since 1994 but the current plans, designed by globally-recognised architects Benoy, are to dwarf the scale of developments previously proposed.
The newly developed Peter Taylor Stand will feature a museum, a new club shop, range of hospitality lounge options and restaurants and executive boxes.
General admission supporters will also experience improvements through spacious concourses, as well as facilities for supporters with disabilities.
The club will now enter a period of consultation and engagement with the relevant supporter groups before making the necessary planning application.
Subject to the relevant consents the club are hopeful that building work will commence at the end of the 2019-20 season. The new, modern, state-of-the-art structure will see The City Ground’s capacity become the highest in the East Midlands, reaching 38,000 after completion.
Nottingham Forest hope than plans will be agreed with work proposed to begin at the end of the 2019-20 season.
