Sky Bet Championship side Queens Park Rangers are looking to redevelop their stadium into a new improved 45,000 new home.
This development will cost a whopping £425 million coming under a new development plan from the local council.
Reports outline four options the club are considering in relation to redeveloping the Linford Christie athletics stadium, nearby to the R’s current Loftus Road home.
All of the options that have been put forward is to expand the stadium and the potential capacities ranging from 35,000 to 45,000.
QPR CEO Lee Hoos, stated recently:
“The Council is shortly to launch a public consultation on the future of the Linford Chrisitie site, which we will encourage our fanbase, local residents and stakeholders to take part in.”
The redevelopment plan includes a completely new athletics track and a new stand next to the stadium, hockey facilities, a skate park and other sport and leisure facilities. The multi-use venue will also generate profit for the club through concert, trade shows, conference facilities and exhibitions.
QPR’s proposed development is the latest in a series of London clubs applying to modernise their homes. Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford are the most recent outfits to have redeveloped their stadiums into multi-use facilities in order to gain larger revenues for the clubs with the clubs also being heavily involved in multi million pound deals in order to expand.
