Rachel Yankey in charge of London Bees for the rest of the season

Former England international Rachel Yankey OBE has been named London Bees Head Coach for the rest of the season.

Yankey earned 129 caps for her country and will now undertake her first head coach role the Women’s Championship after joining the staff at the club last summer.

“I look forward to continuing to support the club and guide the team for the remainder of the season,” Yankey said after being appointed.

Luke Swindlehurst, the outgoing Head Coach, will take up a new role as Barnet FC Academy Under 18’s Head Coach.

Casey Stoney’s Manchester United will be Yankey’s first opponents in the FA Cup on Sunday as the two former team-mates go up against each other in the dugouts.

Yankey spent most of her career at Arsenal and is one of the most decorated players in English football, winning eight league titles, nine FA Cups and a Uefa Cup with the Gunners, and another league title and two more FA Cups with Fulham.
