Young signs extension with United

Ashley Young has signed a one year contract extension with Manchester United.

Young, 33, signed for the Red Devils in 2011 and has gone on to score 17 goals in 227 appearances.

The former Aston Villa man will remain at Old Trafford until the end of the 2019/20 season.

The announcement came via a press release on United’s website and comes a week after Anthony Martial committed his long-term future to the club after signing a five-year extension himself.

During his time at the club Young has won five trophies – the Community Shield in 2011/12, the FA Cup in 2015/16, the League Cup and Europa League double in 2016/17 and has one Premier League title to his name which he captured in the 2012/13.

With Young tied down the United brass may turn attentions to Spanish duo Juan Mata and Ander Herrera. The pair are out of contract at the end of the season, although Herrera is expected to stay.
