Real Madrid left-back Marcelo has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo told him he was going to leave the club before last season’s Champions League final.
Ronaldo, 34, left Madrid after nine years in Spain’s capital to move to Juventus and his former teammate explains how he found out.
Speaking in an interview with Esporte Interativo Marcelo said:
“We were training for the final when he told me he was leaving.”
The Portuguese forward hinted at a departure from the Santiago Bernabeu after his Madrid side defeated Liverpool 3-1 in Kiev.
Marcelo has been linked with joining his close friend in Italy but was coy on the rumours:
“Juve is a great club, but I have a contract with Real Madrid.”
Ronaldo has scored 18 goals and assisted seven more in his 23 appearances in Serie A. He also recently won his first title with the Italian giants as they claimed the Supercoppa Italiana where he scored the only goal as Juventus beat AC Milan in Saudi Arabia.
