Huddersfield Town sign Karlan Grant as they look to stop scoring issues

It was announced today that bottom-placed Premier League side Huddersfield Town have signed League One striker Karlan Grant from Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

The former Addicks player has signed a contract with the Terriers until the summer of 2022,  though there is an option to extend the deal one further season.

Grant will take the number 16 with the hope that the attacker will improve the sides form in front of goal, considering that their top scorer is centre-back Mathias Jørgensen with three.

Adding onto that Steve Mounié is the only striker to score a goal with one in 21 matches for Jan Siewert’s side. The incoming 21-year-old joins after a prolific set of campaigns scoring nine for Crawley Town in 15 starts when on loan at the back end of last season and 14 in 29 for Charlton this season.

The Former England Under-19 international was announced via the club’s retro computer graphic video:

The inbound player joins a Huddersfield side who are bottom of the Premier League, only scoring 13 goals in 24 matches while having 11 points, which is 11 from safety.

Club Head Coach Jan Siewert spoke to the club’s media saying:

“He offers us something different to our current options in that he always tries to play on the shoulder of the final defender, looking to run in behind. He’s an athletic, pacey player and will really fit our playing style.

“He’s only 21 and he will improve here, for sure; he’s an exciting English talent, for sure. He can play a big part in this club’s present and future.”

After losing to ten-man Everton 1-0, Karlan will face a battle to help his side remain in the Premier League.

His first challenge for the club could be a daunting trip to Chelsea on Saturday.
