Vivianne Miedema breaks scoring record with goal against Reading

Arsenal’s Vivianne Miedema made WSL history with her goal in the 3-0 win against Reading on Sunday.

The Dutch striker has now scored more league goals (16) in a single season than any other player, breaking the record which was set by Birmingham City striker Ellen White last campaign.

It took Miedema just two minutes to surpass White’s record of 15 goals in the victory over Reading.

The 22-year-old striker now has seven more games to increase her record and could become the first WSL striker to score more than 20 goals in a league campaign.

In December, Miedema committed her future to Arsenal by signing a new long-term contract extension and claimed that “as long as we all just enjoy it as much as we do right now, I think we’re definitely going to win prizes.”
