The Premier League have informed Cardiff City that they will not be afforded an extended transfer window period despite the disappearance of their latest signing, Emiliano Sala.
Sala, a £15 million record signing for the Bluebirds, is still missing following the disappearance of the aircraft he was aboard while flying back to Wales following a trip to his old club Nantes to say goodbye to his former teammates.
Rescue operations are ongoing with Guernsey Policing confirming on Thursday morning:
“We are commencing a coastal search using be[sic]Channel Islands Air Search plane of Burhou, the Casquets, Alderney, the north coast of Cherborg Peninsula, the north coast of Jersey and then back over Sark.”
Cardiff chief executive, Ken Choo, says the club must obey the same rules put in place for the other 19 Premier League teams, despite the extenuating circumstances.
Speaking with talkSPORT, Choo said:
“I think from the club’s perspective, we are managing the situation but we have another department that has to continue with looking at transfers.
“I am basically multi-tasking three or four jobs at once. It is really difficult physically and emotionally and mentally to cope in a situation like this,” said the chief executive,
“We have to segregate our minds into looking for Emiliano, segregate our minds into helping the family and the club is trying its best to provide the most care for the family and giving them the information they want, we want to tell them all the facts line-by-line.”
