Scott McTominay has committed his future to United (C) Sky Sports
Scotland international Scott McTominay has confirmed his future by putting pen to paper on a deal that will see the midfielder at Old Trafford until the summer of 2023. There is also an option to extend for a further year.
The 22-year-old is an academy prospect and has featured twice since caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær took over.
He is the first of a number of players that the Lancashire side are trying to convince to stay in Manchester following the departure of José Mourinho. Anthony Martial is said to be closer than ever to a new deal while David De Gea had his further year extension triggered in a pursuit by United to keep their star goalie.
Since making his United debut on the 20th of September 2017, replacing Marcus Rashford in a 4-1 victory over Burton Albion, the academy product has played 32 more times for the Red Devils.
In his statement, McTominay announced “the club has been my life since the age of five and playing for the team I’ve always supported is all I’ve ever wanted to do.”
United were rumoured to be wanting to loan the Scotsman out to give him more experience, and allow the youngster more playing time to ensure he was getting the progression necessary to return to the club as a genuine contender for the first team.
One of the options was Celtic but it seems like Solskjær made U-turn on the decision meaning that he would not be leaving following the injury to Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
