Pogba out for Reading FA Cup clash

Paul Pogba is set to miss Manchester United’s FA Cup fixture against Reading this weekend after suffering a knock during his sides 2-0 midweek win over Newcastle.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the injury in his pre-match press conference.

“(Marcus) Rojo, (Chris) Smalling out,” Solskjaer said. “I’m not sure if Paul’s going to be ready, he got a knock against Newcastle. And if Fellaini gets through the training session today it’s more or less a full squad.”

The France international suffered the injury from a tackle by Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who received criticism for the challenge with many feeling he was perhaps fortunate to stay on the pitch.

Pogba has been in inspired form since the Norwegian took over from the departing Jose Mourinho, managing to score four in his last three appearances for the Red Devils.

Therefore, Manchester United fans will hope it’s not a serious injury for the World Cup winner as he starts to show why the club spent a record £89 million on him back in 2016.

United are looking to go one better than last year in this competition when they lost in the final 1-0 to Chelsea courtesy of a Eden Hazard penalty.

United take on Reading at Old Trafford at 12:30 on Saturday as they look to make it five wins on the bounce under Solskjaer.
