Bundesliga Matchday 13 Round Up: Where the Foals Lost to Wiiings

Monchengladbach lost in table turner, Bayern earn some credibility, and the Wolves get their grove back. This and more in Matchday 13 of the Bundesliga.

In the biggest table impacting match of the week, Borussia Monchengladbach hoped that they would pile on the misery to Leipzig after their falter in the Europa League midweek. Leipzig returned to the top three in style with a 2-0 win over the Foals.

Timo Werner raced to an early first half goal which saw Gladbach need to start pressing. Being unable to crack the Leipzig defense, Yussuf Poulsen forayed into the box to pass off to Werner to give him two to his name and a secure victory to take RB to third in the league table.

Bayern has faced severe criticism in recent weeks with their recent form. Niko Kovac will be sitting on a cooler seat after two consecutive wins with a 2-1 win at Werder Bremen.

For former Bremen man Serge Gnabry, this was his moment to say he would play a major factor in the future of Bayern. Two goals from the winger put Bremen on the back foot but it was the aggressive individual nature of the player which was on display which will in the long term suit the club.

Eintracht Frankfurt has been recently on a roll in all competitions, but in Wolfsburg they found a team who would take their own chances. A 2-1 result finds the Wolves back up the table at eighth.

The Eagles had earned nine goals in ten matches, but the Wolves took their chances. Admir Mehmedi was left unmarked for a first half goal on a counter attack. In the second half, it happened again with Daniel Ginczek. A late Luka Jovic goal means he keeps up the race for top goal scorer.

Elesewhere in the Bundesliga

Mainz moved to 10th in the table as they kept another clean sheet with a 1-0 win at Dusseldorf.

Hertha Berlin dominated Hannover to the tune of 2-0. The result turned over for the Old Lady into seventh place and back into the European places in the Bundesliga.

Stuttgart shocked the relegation-embattled clubs as against sturdy Augsburg the Swabian’s won 1-0 to move off the bottom of the Bundesliga.

Bayer Leverkusen looked to improve on their league position, but could only muster a 1-1 draw with Nurnberg.

With the Revierderby a week away, Schalke 04 earned a credible away draw to Hoffenheim 1-1.

Bundesliga Player of the Week

Timo Werner earned himself this award as he scored a brace in what was the best match of the week.
