On loan Sheffield United youngster scores three to win EFL player of the month
19-year-old Harvey Gilmour surprised the English footballing scene in October winning young player of the month while on loan at newly promoted Tranmere Rovers.
The Sheffield United youngster had only featured in four matches for the League Two side, he’d started and scored none. This changed when Tranmere played Morecambe on 6th of October.
Not only did the midfielder start but he scored two goals including the match winner in front of the away fans, a sensational way to mark his first full match in white and blue.
Prior to that goal he’d never scored before, he exclaimed to BBC Sport that:
“I’ve been dreaming about it since I was a little kid and scoring two goals was massive for me.”
Gilmour who came through the same academy as England international Harry Maguire and Wales international David Brooks has since scored one other goal for the Super White Army.
His loan ends in January but the youngster who since scoring that double has played 322 minutes of first-team football has got what he wanted out of this loan spell. If he does return to Bramall Lane, then Chris Wilder will have food for thought.
Rumours have been circling that Micky Mellon wants to extend the talented youngster’s loan until the end of the season but only time will tell if both parties will make that happen.
