400 Scottish fans made the 6,000-mile trip across to South America for what aguably for them was an end of season meaningless friendly. In contrast this was an important match for their hosts Peru, giving them much needed experience of playing a European team as part of their World Cup preparations – Peru have two European teams in their World Cup group, namely France and Denmark as well as fellow Southern Hemisphere side Australia, 16 of whose 23 players (70%) actually play in Europe!
Peru secured a comfortable 2-0 victory against Scotland in front of a passionate home crowd. The match was followed by a post-match party in the stadium to give the home fans the chance to send off their team to their first World Cup in 36 years!
