The Mexican National Team has officially completed its farewell tour of the United States and Mexico. El Tri had played to a 0-0 draw back on March 28th against Wales at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, Calif. to say goodbye to its USA fan base. And on Saturday evening Mexico defeated Scotland 1-0 at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City to bid farewell to its home fans.

Giovani Dos Santos answered the call of his many critics with the lone goal of the match to give El Tri the win and possible confidence boost as the team prepares to travel to Europe where it will hold one final preparation match in Denmark against the home team and then kickoff its World Cup participation against reigning champions Germany.

Despite the win over Scotland, Mexican fans were not happy with what their National Team offered on the field and made their feelings known at the final whistle with loud boos and “Fuera Osorio” (Osorio Out) chants.

It was not the farewell that Mexico were hoping for. Fans on both sides of the border seem displaced with the performance of the National Team. Over 160,000 fans booed the team at the final whistle at the Rose Bowl and Estadio Azteca.

Colombian manager Juan Carlos Osorio stated in his post-game news conference that he did not hear the taunts or chants by the Mexican fans at the end of the match.

“No I did not hear them (the chants). I think that Mexico is capable of a good performance at the World Cup. There is a great deal of optimism in the group. There is a big sense of solidarity and teamwork that I think will allow us to compete against any team.” — Juan Carlos Osorio

Before the match against Scotland, Osorio made three of his final four cuts to the squad. READ MORE HERE.
