CHICAGO (Sept. 13, 2013) – Following the completion of its successful campaign to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the U.S. Men’s National Team will face Scotland on Nov. 15 at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Kickoff at Scotland’s National Stadium is set for 3 p.m. ET (8 p.m. local), and the match will be shown live on ESPN2, WatchESPN and Univision Networks. Fans can also follow the match live on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker and via Twitter @ussoccer.

The match falls on an international fixture date, which means U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has the option to select whatever players he chooses for the match. U.S. Soccer anticipates announcing a second match to be played Nov. 19 in the near future.

“The game against Scotland is crucial for us because we have so few games between now and when we name the roster for the FIFA World Cup,” said Klinsmann. “It’s a huge opportunity for the players, and we are excited to play against a team and in a venue that has so much tradition and history in football.”

The U.S. has played Scotland seven times in its history, holding a lifetime record of 2-3-2 in a series dating back to 1949. The teams last met on Scottish soil in 2005 nearly eight years ago to the day, when Josh Wolff converted a penalty and the U.S. finished with a 1-1 draw. Most recently, a Landon Donovan hat trick paced the USA to a 5-1 win on May 26, 2012, in Jacksonville, Fla.

Scotland is coming off victories against Croatia and Macedonia in 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying. The Tartan Army narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 2012 European Championship from a group that included defending FIFA World Cup champion Spain.

The U.S. qualified for the World Cup in Brazil after the 2-0 win against Mexico on Sept. 10 in Columbus, Ohio, the fourth consecutive “dos a cero” home victory for the USA in qualifying against El Tri. The USA is heading to its seventh straight FIFA World Cup and 10th overall next year.

The U.S. next faces Jamaica on Oct. 11 at sold-out Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan. (5:30 p.m. CT, ESPN, UniMas, ESPN Deportes Radio). Four days later, the team closes out the cycle away to Panama. Kickoff from Estadio Rommel Fernandez is set for 10 p.m. ET, with coverage on beIN SPORT.

Currently ranked No. 13 in the world, the United States has collected a team-record 14 victories in 2013 and is on pace to establish a new best in goal differential, goals per game and winning percentage for a calendar year. The win against Mexico represented the 250th victory in U.S. MNT history.
