US International Alejandro Bedoya on the Move?

Bedoya in action v Chile

News coming out of Glasgow suggests that US international Alejandro Bedoya may be on the move.

Bedoya is currently at Glasgow Rangers who went into administration last week after failing to settle a massive tax bill.

Players are being offloaded by the administrators, Duff and Phelps, with Kyle Bartley returning to Arsenal.

Bedoya joined Rangers from Swedish club Örebro for an undisclosed fee on 17 August 2011.

Scottish TV presenter Raman Bhardwaj tweeted Bedoya’s departure earlier today writing ‘Rangers in advanced discussion with a club over transfer.’

He said a nominal transfer fee was being negotiated as was that of Matt MacKay who was heading to Korea.

His brother Santiago Bedoya was on the Vancouver Whitecaps books having been acquired by the Whitecaps in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft. He played in a pre season friendly with the Sounders in February 2011.

Bedoya played for the USA in the 0-4 defeat to Spain and a 1-1 draw with Chile in LA in January 2011.

It’s probably a coincidence but with Montreal using their allocation slot to acquire Eddie Johnson, the club at the top of the MLS allocation list are the Vancouver Whitecaps, the club who once drafted Bedoya’s brother.

Two other Americans Carlos Bocanegra and Maurice Edu are also currently on the books at Rangers.
