Capello Announces England Squad

Late afternoon drama transpired in London as Fabio Capello’s expected announcement of his 23-man-squad for the World Cup was delayed for an hour. The English FA website went down as curious fans refreshed it continually hoping for updates.

The England coach’s squad is almost as expected with Leighton Baines, Tom Huddlestone, Scott Parker, Michael Dawson, Theo Walcott, Darren Bent and Adam Johnson being the seven dropped from his 30-man provisional squad. Dawson and Walcott’s omissions are perhaps the most surprising.
