Prost Amerika Wins Supporters Award

Prost Amerika is very proud to announce that we have retained our Match Report of the Year Award, given by the Emerald City Supporters Club (ECS). The award was initiated last season when there was considerably less press attention on the Seattle Sounders. This year, there has been far more coverage of the Sounders since their inception into Major League Soccer. Nonetheless, Prost Amerika beat out a larger field of competition, including the Seattle Times, Sounders FC itself and GOALSeattle.com, taking 83% of the vote.

Prost Amerika attended every home game in both MLS and the US Open Cup, and in addition traveled to Portland for the US Open Cup tie and to the US Open Cup Final in Washington DC, one of only two Seattle based journalists to be represented at the match. In addition, we supplied both an editorial article and four photographs for the MLS Cup Final program.

Dave Clark’s Sounder at Heart came second in the poll, with the Sounders FC official site finishing third.

The ECS are the largest of Sounders FC’s supporters groups with a membership of over 1200 people. Their game day activities at the Brougham End of Qwest Field have brought many plaudits throughout the US soccer community.

In the new year, look out for a very personal and open interview with Sounders FC Head Coach Sigi Schmid, talking one to one with Prost Amerika for the very first time. In a very lengthy conversation, Sigi talks about growing up in the USA as a foreigner, encountering racism, his football philosophy, referees and the very moving emotions that brought him to tears at his inaugural press conference.
