England duo find form with the bat in Big Bash

England pair Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone both were back in the runs to help the Perth Scorchers to secure a nine-wicket win over Hobart Hurricanes down under this morning.

Roy (74*) and Livingstone (54) shared 123 for the first wicket to set the Scorchers well on their way to the target of 140.

Both players have largely struggled since coming into the tournament after going through a two-week isolation but were back at their best to score their first half centuries of the tournament.

There was English interest elsewhere in this match with the top ranked T20 batsman David Malan also involved but he fell for a duck as Australia international D’Arcy Short was the only player to pass 35 for the Hurricanes and were always up against it in defending 139.

However, there was a golden chance to remove Lancashire captain Livingstone before scoring but he was dropped at gully by Short.

Livingstone really made them play as the Scorchers also secured the Bash Boost point to make it five consecutive wins which moved them up to third in the standings.

Despite the loss, the Hurricanes are only one point behind their opponents, although they have played a game more.
