Meet Chris Walker, today’s match commentator for Chagos Islands v Cascadia

0

Saturday’s Cascadia v Chagos Islands match can be seen on a live stream provided via the technology of  Cujoo which the Cascadian Football Federation (CAFF) are using for the very first time.

There will however also be a match commentary provided by local journalist Chris Walker, which will be broadcast live on CW Sport.

Walker covered Cascadia last year in their 3-3 draw with Panjab in the ConIFA Cup, having commentated on all Panjab’s games inn the tournament.

He has covered Yorkshire and Surrey games and at the end of this month will be calling live games in the Heritage Atlantic Cup being held in Yorkshire.

Walker comes from a background in hospital, community and local radio as well as a stint as a touchline reporter/match commentator with Southampton FC in their first Premier League spell.

After that he found a niche commentating through Kings Langley FC  in 2017 and then also Watford Ladies FC.

“‘It is a hobby but of course if it was to lead to something more I wouldn’t complain, but in the meantime I’m enjoying it all and of course spreading the word of non league football across internet radio and on social media,” Walker told Prost Soccer.”

This year, he has been covering Cambridge United Women FC in the FA Women’s National League Division 1 South East and has been confirmed to return for a second season.

“It’s a labour of love doing this and to combine my two passions of sport and radio is brilliant but having said that I am looking out for potential sponsors for the broadcasts as the global reach of the internet has seen the commentaries picked up in nearly 100 countries so far,” Walker added
