Europa League quarter-final draw: Arsenal host Napoli while Frankfurt travel to Portugal

Europa League quarter-final draw: Arsenal host Napoli while Frankfurt travel to Portugal

0

Last season’s semi-finalists Arsenal will welcome second-placed Serie A side Napoli to the Emirates for the first leg of their Europa League quarter-finals clash, while Eintracht Frankfurt will be travelling to Lisbon to face Benfica.

Both Arsenal and Napoli have only played each other twice with both sides winning a match each. On both occasions the game ended 2-0. With a semi-final place on the cards one will have to prove deadlier than the other.

It will be the first time that Eintracht Frankfurt and Benfica will meet when the two face off on April 11. German side Frankfurt are currently fifth in the Bundesliga while only being four points off third placed RB Leipzig, as for Benfica they are the current table toppers of the LIGA NOS though are only ahead of FC Porto on goal difference.

Both Frankfurt players Luka Jovic and Sebastien Haller are fourth and fifth top scorers in this season’s Europa League campaign scoring seven and five respectively. Portuguese side Benfica haven’t got a single player that has scored over one with Eduardo Salvio, Haris Seferović, Jonas, Francisco Ferreira and Alex Grimaldo all netting on one occasion.

Europa League Last 16 Round-up:

Elsewhere Villarreal host Valencia in an all Spanish tie, back in January these two sides met in the league with Valencia winning 3-0. The goals in that game came from defender Mouctar Diakhaby, winger Denis Cheryshev and striker Rodrigo.

Els Taronges have never lost to Villarreal in Europe, drawing once and winning the other. That win progressed Valencia to the final back in the 2003/2004 season after Mista scored a penalty, following that win the Spanish club went on to win their first ever Europa League after they beat Marseille 2-0 in Gothenburg

The final match sees Chelsea travel to the Czech Republic to face Slavia Praha who knocked out five-time Europa League winners Sevilla to progress to the next round. Oliver Giroud is the top scorer in the tournament after he scored a hat-trick in the Chelsea’s 5-0 win over Dynamo Kiev in Ukraine.

The Semi-Finals and final was also drawn with the results of those two as follows:
