Soccer on the Sound: Huskies open Big Ten play with win over Penn State

Washington 4-2 Penn State

SEATTLE, WA–The defending national champion in men’s soccer Washington Huskies opened Big Ten play with a 4-2 win over Penn State at Husky Soccer Stadium. The Nittany Lions got on the board first in the 33rd minute on a goal by Amadou Kone. That lead lasted five seconds (the clock counts down and stops in college soccer) as Zach Ramsey equalized.

Alex Hall gave the Huskies the lead in the 50th minute, but Sheridan McNish restored parity for the visitors 90 seconds later. The Huskies would take the lead for good in the 59th minute as Asher Hestad headed in a corner from Hall. Ramsey got his second of the match four minutes from time to seal the three points for the Huskies.

Next up is a weekend road trip starting at Indiana on Friday (4:30pm PT, BIG+) and then against Ohio State on Monday (4pm PT, Big Ten Network). .
