Turgeman, Miller Lead Revolution to Gritty 2-1 Victory Over Chicago Fire

Forward Dor Turgeman drove into the penalty area and delivered a low cross toward the back post, where Peyton Miller applied a simple finish to double New England’s advantage.

Less than a minute later, Miller threatened again, sending a left-footed shot from the left side of the box narrowly wide of the far post.

In the 52nd minute, Revolution defender Matt Polster was shown a yellow card for a hard foul on Puso Dithejane.

Three minutes later, Chicago Fire head coach Gregg Berhalter made a triple substitution, replacing Dithejane, Johan Gomez and Jonathan Dean with Maren Haile-Selassie, Robin Lod and Jonathan Bamba.

Less than a minute later, Chicago generated a flurry of opportunities inside the penalty area. Philip Zinckernagel had two efforts blocked, while attempts from Bamba and Haile-Selassie were also denied in quick succession.

In the 58th minute, Miller was shown a yellow card following a collision with Chicago goalkeeper Chris Brady.

In the 61st minute, Chicago pulled a goal back.

Winger Philip Zinckernagel played the ball into Robin Lod, who laid it off for Maren Haile-Selassie to slot a low finish into the bottom-left corner and cut Chicago’s deficit to 2-1.

In the 69th minute, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his first two substitutions of the match, replacing Jackson Yueill and Dániel Gazdag with Joshua Wynder and Griffin Yow.

Andrew Gutman created Chicago’s next opportunity in the 71st minute, but his headed effort sailed narrowly over the crossbar.

Lod threatened again in the 78th minute, directing a left-footed shot toward the center of the goal that was saved by Matt Turner.

In the 81st minute, Mitrović made his third substitution of the match, replacing Dor Turgeman with Ilay Feingold.

Three minutes later, Chicago midfielder Sergio Oregel was shown a yellow card for a hard foul on Carles Gil.

In the 88th minute, Mitrović used his final two substitutions, replacing Gil and Peyton Miller with Wilson Harris and Cody Baker.

Robert Lewandowski nearly equalized in the 89th minute, but Turner produced a spectacular diving save to deny his headed effort near the bottom corner.

Chicago continued applying pressure in the second minute of stoppage time, with efforts from Haile-Selassie, Dje D’Avilla and Jack Elliott each deflected behind for corner kicks.

Lewandowski produced the final opportunity of the match in the fifth minute of stoppage time, sending his header narrowly wide of the left post.

Following five minutes of second-half stoppage time, the final whistle sounded as New England held on for a 2-1 victory.
