CHICAGO, IL–Three more transactions to talk about for Chicago Fire FC and two deal with loans. On Thursday, Chicago Fire FC announced that they have acquired defender Noah Allen on loan from Inter Miami through the end of the 2026 season, with a permanent trade option following the 2026 season. Allen will occupy a U22 Initiative Slot. The agreement was completed prior to the close of the Secondary Transfer Window.
A product of the Inter Miami Academy system, Allen, 22, signed as a Homegrown Player for the South Florida side in 2022 and made his MLS debut against Chicago Fire on February 26th that same year. He became an important member of the squad that secured the Leagues Cup 2023 championship and the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield. Allen has also helped Miami obtain MLS Cup 2025, starting and playing 90 minutes in the final. He was also being named Best Young Player and included in the Best XI for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.
“As a young defender who has developed through the MLS ranks, Noah has consistently shown that he can compete at the highest levels of Major League Soccer,” said Fire Director of Football and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. “What stands out is his competitive mentality, his drive to improve and his versatile skill set. He has valuable experience for his age, and we believe he has the qualities to make an impact on this team.”
While Allen comes in on loan, another player is joining Christopher Cupps on loan to Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton–also through the end of 2026. Chicago retains the right to recall Borso at any point, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines. Per Club policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed. The agreement was completed prior to the close of the Secondary Transfer Window. Borso has made four appereances this season for the Fire.
Finally, the Fire traded defender Joel Waterman to Portland Timbers for $100,000 in general allocation money. Waterman made 26 appearances across all competitions after joining the Fire last year. Waterman was also part of the roster for the Canadian World Cup squad though he did not see action.
