Carles Gil & Mamadou Fofana named to MLS Team of the Matchday 23

FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution defender Mamadou Fofana & midfielder Carles Gil have made the MLS Team of the Matchday 23 following Sunday’s 3-1 win over Columbus Crew.

This is Gil’s seventh appearance in TOTW this season.

This is Fofana’s fourth appearance in TOTW this season.

Fofana, who played all 90 minutes finished the match with an 8.4 rating according to Fotmob. Offensively, Mamadou had 1 assist. He had 62 touches and 9 passes into the final third. The defender went 40/46 (87%) on accurate passes throughout the match with 4/6 accuracy on long balls (67%). Fofana defensively had 13 defensive contributions with 5 tackle, 1 block, 5 clearances, 3 headed clearances, 2 interceptions and 4 recoveries during the match. Marko Mitrović and the New England Revolution (11-4-7, 37 pts.) remain on the road to face Western Conference side Los Angeles Galaxy (6-8-9 27 pts.). The match is set to kickoff at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, September 5th at 9:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
