FOXBOROUGH, MA –New England Revolution (9-3-7, 30 pts.) were defeated 2-1 versus Toronto FC (4-8-7, 20 pts.) on Saturday night.
The match kicked off at 7:30 p.m. ET at BMO Field to a crowd of 18,000.

Toronto FC opened the match on the front foot, quickly looking to advance the ball and apply early pressure in New England’s midfield.
Peyton Miller created the first chance of the match in the fifth minute when his left-footed half-volley forced a spectacular save from goalkeeper Luka Gavran, sending the ball out for a corner kick. On the ensuing corner, Ethan Kohler rose to meet the service but sent his header just wide of the right post.
Less than three minutes later, Josh Sargent registered Toronto’s first effort of the match, but his attempt was blocked away and cleared.
Jack Harrison had New England’s next opportunity in the 18th minute, sending his left-footed effort just over the crossbar.
Five minutes later, Dor Turgeman received the ball inside the penalty area but sent his effort wide of the net.

In the 25th minute, Revolution midfielder Brooklyn Raines was issued a yellow card for a harsh foul.
Matt Polster created another opportunity for New England in the 31st minute, but his right-footed effort was comfortably saved by Gavran in the center of the goal.
Turgeman threatened again in the 34th minute, sending his effort narrowly wide of the right post.
In the 40th minute, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović was forced to make his first substitution of the match, replacing Peyton Miller with Griffin Yow after Miller suffered a head injury.
Three minutes later, Toronto FC broke the deadlock.
New England opened the second half on the front foot, quickly looking to advance the ball and apply pressure in Toronto’s midfield.
Daniel Sallói registered the first opportunity of the second half in the 51st minute, sending his shot from the left side of the box just wide of the right post.
Less than three minutes later, Carles Gil had an opportunity of his own, but his effort sailed just over the crossbar.
New England’s best chance of the second half came in the 59th minute when Jack Harrison fired a left-footed shot that struck the post.

In the 73rd minute, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his second substitution of the match, replacing Dor Turgeman with Wilson Harris.
Less than a minute later, Toronto FC defender Walker Zimmerman was issued a yellow card for a harsh foul on Gil.
Just two minutes later, Toronto was reduced to 10 men after midfielder Đorđe Mihailović was shown a straight red card for a challenge on the back of Gil’s calf.
New England quickly looked to capitalize on the man advantage, creating two chances in quick succession. Ethan Kohler’s close-range header narrowly missed the target before Matt Polster sent an effort wide of the net.

In the 81st minute, both sides made changes. Mitrović made his third substitution of the match, replacing Polster with Marcos Zambrano, while Toronto FC head coach Robin Fraser replaced Theo Corbeanu and Daniel Sallói with Alonso Coello and Zane Monlouis.
In the 86th minute, Mitrović made his final substitution of the match, replacing Brooklyn Raines with Diego Fagundez.
Just two minutes later, Harrison had another major opportunity to cut into Toronto’s lead, but his left-footed shot was denied by Luka Gavran.
Entering the 90th minute, New England finally pulled one back.
