Soccer on the Sound: Defiance win fourth straight

Tacoma Defiance 4-2 Vancouver Whitecaps 2

TUKWILA, WA–Tacoma Defiance won their fourth straight match on Saturday by defeating Vancouver Whitecaps 2, 4-2, at StarFire Sports Complex. The win puts the Defiance in sixth in the Western Conference in MLS NEXT Pro while WFC2 drop to second bottom in the West.

The Defiance got on the board after just three minutes after Mark Bronnik headed in a cross from Charlie Gaffney. However Vancouver would equalize three minutes later as Daniel Ittycheria scored off a free kick from eider Zuliuaga.

Edson Carli scored from the penalty spot to restore Tacoma’s lead and then Rafael Jauregui scored three minutes into the second half to double Tacoma’s advantage. An own goal made it 4-1 Tacoma before Carson Rassak added what would be a consolation goal for WFC.

Tacoma’s next match is Saturday at North Texas SC at 5:45pm PT.
