FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — New England Revolution captain Carles Gil has been named to the 2026 MLS All-Star Game, earning the fifth selection of his Major League Soccer career.

Carles Gil’s selection is the latest recognition in a career that has established him as one of Major League Soccer’s premier midfielders. Once again serving as the engine of New England’s attack in 2026, the Spaniard has combined creativity, vision, and leadership to remain one of the league’s most influential playmakers.
The honor adds another accolade to an already remarkable tenure in Foxborough.
Since arriving as a Designated Player ahead of the 2019 season, Gil has transformed the Revolution, becoming one of the greatest players in club history. He captured the 2021 Landon Donovan MLS Most Valuable Player award after leading New England to a then-league record 73-point regular season and has since earned multiple MLS Best XI selections while routinely ranking among the league leaders in assists, chances created, and attacking contributions.
Earlier this season, Gil added another milestone to his résumé, becoming just the 32nd player in MLS history to record at least 50 goals and 50 assists. He reached the achievement in his 200th regular-season appearance.
The 33-year-old also reaffirmed his commitment to the Revolution earlier this year, signing a contract extension that will keep him in New England through June 2028.
Gil’s fifth MLS All-Star selection is the latest milestone in a career that continues to redefine the Revolution record books. With each passing season, the Spanish midfielder further strengthens his legacy as one of the club’s greatest players while continuing to rank among Major League Soccer’s elite.
Through 14 MLS appearances in 2026, Gil has once again been the catalyst for New England’s attack. The Revolution captain has played 1,253 minutes, tallying five goals and four assists while consistently dictating the tempo of matches with his creativity, vision, and playmaking ability.
His outstanding form has earned him three MLS Team of the Week selections this season, reflecting the consistency and influence he has brought to the Revolution. Whether unlocking opposing defenses with incisive passes, creating scoring opportunities for teammates, or finding the back of the net himself, Gil has remained the centerpiece of New England’s attack and one of the league’s most impactful players.
