FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution have signed goalkeeper J.D. Gunn to a first-team contract ahead of the 2026 MLS season.

J.D. Gunn is a 26-year-old, 6’6, 203lb goalkeeper from Panama City, Panama.

Prior to joining the New England Revolution, Gunn played for NCAA Division II college Biola University (2018-22). After his four-year stint with Biola, Gunn played for Memphis University (2023) as a graduate student. In February of 2024, Gunn signed with New England Revolution II (2024-2026). During the 2024 & 2025 seasons, Gunn signed short-term deals with the first team in a back-up emergency role. He now joins the New England Revolution (2026 – present) on a permanent first team basis.

In total career numbers, the goalkeeper has made 42 career appearances (3,750 minutes) where he has allowed 91 goals, registered 5 clean sheets, & 5 yellow cards & 1 red card.

On February 5th, 2026, the New England Revolution had announced that Gunn had signed a first team deal for the 2026 Major League Soccer season, with additional club options for the 2027 and 2027-28 MLS campaigns.

This January, Gunn earned his first senior cap with the Panama Men’s National Team, which is gearing up for FIFA World Cup 26TM this summer. The six-foot-six goalkeeper suited up for Los Canaleros against Mexico in a friendly on January 22. He had previously featured on Panama’s roster at the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup.

A multi-sport athlete in his youth, Gunn has also represented Panama in basketball at the youth international level.

When asked about the signing, New England Revolution goalkeeper coach Kevin Hitchcock stated that he sees similarities in USMNT goalkeeper Matt Turner.

“I saw the same thing in JD that I saw in Matt Turner very, very early on. He has the same attributes as Matt. He sounds like Matt. I want him to be like Matt, but that’s up to JD. JD has all the tools to be a top-class MLS goalkeeper.”

Gunn re-joins a New England Revolution goalkeeper group that includes goalkeeper Donovan Parisian (Armenia YNT) along with Matt Turner (United States Men’s National Team).
