Defender Aimé Mabika & Rhode Island FC agree to mutually part ways

PAWTUCKET, RI– Defender Aimé Mabika & Rhode Island FC have agreed to mutually part ways.

Aimé Mabika is a 27-year-old, 6’6, 214lb, defender from Lusaka, Zambia.

At the club level, Mabika has played 64 career games (4,897 minutes) in the United States. During a 4-year collegiate career at Kentucky University (2016-20), Mabika appeared for Cincinnati Dutch Lions (2018). At the conclusion of his collegiate career, he entered the MLS SuperDraft. On January 21st, 2021, he was drafted 26th overall in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft by Inter Miami CF (2022-23). During his time with Inter Miami, he was loaned to Fort Lauderdale CF (2021) & Inter Miami CF II (2023-23), Inter Miami’s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate. In 2023, he was traded to Toronto FC (2023-24). He then joined Rhode Island FC (2025) in May of the 2025 season.

In total club numbers, the defender has contributed 9 career goals, 2 assists, along with 10 yellow cards and 1 red cards.

Internationally, Mabika has represented the Zambia National Team once.

Late evening on Friday, January 16th, Rhode Island FC announced that Aimé Mabika & the club have mutually agreed to part ways.

Mabika joined Rhode Island FC on May 2, 2025, and started 18 games in 25 appearances across all competitions last season. The club thanked Aimé for his contributions and wished him well in the future.

The defender is now a free agent and is able to enter talks with any team.
