Little League: Vancouver trounce Brisbane to advance

Vancouver, BC 12-0 Brisbane, QLD, AUS (5 innings)

WILLIAMSPORT, PA–The Little Mountain Little League of Vancouver stayed alive in the Little League World Series eliminating the Brisbane North Little League of Australia, 12-0 in five innings.

After being held to just one hit against Barquisimeto, Venezuela on Friday, Vancouver would hold Brisbane to just one hit on the day.

Tyson Grimsrud-Ronse pitched four no-hit innings, with one walk and five strikeouts for the Canadian champions. Misha Lee, Arek Aubuchon and Matthew Wong produced two hits apiece, and the team had thirteen on the day. Aubuchon tallied a game-high three RBIs.

It was just 4-0 after four innings, but Vancouver would blow it open and close the door on Australia at the same time with eight runs in the fifth innings triggering the mercy rule in Little League.

Vancouver will now await the loser of the game between the Tung-Yuan LL of Chinese Taipei and the Aruba Center LL representing the Caribbean. That game takes place on Monday with Vancouver playing the loser on Tuesday.
