Vancouver shut out in Little League opener

Vancouver, BC 0-4 Barquisimeto, VEN

WILLIAMSPORT, PA–The Little Mountain Little League of Vancouver dropped their opening game of the Little League World Series, 4-0, to the Cardenales Little League of Barquisimeto, Venezuela at Volunteers Stadium. Venezuela, representing Latin America, did all their damage in the first two innings of the game.

They got one run in the first inning off a bases-loaded walk, but could have been much worse for the Vancouverites as they managed to hold them to just that one run in the first. It did get worse, though, in the second as the Venezuelan got three more runs–one coming off a double and two more off wild pitches.

Vancouver were held to just one hit on the afternoon— a single by Tyson Grimsrud-Ronse. Vancouver are now in the elimination bracket where they will await the winner of the game between Brno, Czechia and Brisbane, Australia, on Sunday. Venezuela moves on to face the Joto LL of Tokyo on Monday.
