Vancouver Whitecaps 0-0 Minnesota United
VANCOUVER, BC–Despite outshooting Minnesota 21-4 and 56-44 possession in their favor, the Whitecaps were unable to put a ball into the net as they played Minnesota to a goalless draw. The draw does extend their unbeaten streak to fifteen in all competitions (7 wins, 8 draws) and extends their lead in the Western Conference to five points over San Diego (who lost at Seattle) and Minnesota.
There was squad rotation by the Whitecaps with one eye on Sunday’s Concacaf Champions Cup Final against Cruz Azul. Still, the majority of the chances were with the hosts. Yet, of those 21 shots for the Whitecaps, just three were on target. The one that troubled Dayne St. Clair the most was in the 80th minute when Jayden Nelson pounced on a ball in the box required a quick, reflexive save from the Loons’ keeper.

The focus for the Whitecaps is now on Sunday and the Concacaf Champions Cup Final in Mexico City against Cruz Azul. Kickoff is at 6pm PT and on FS1 and Fubo TV in the USA and ONE Soccer and Telus Channel 980 in Canada.
