Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0 LAFC

VANCOUVER, BC–Last year, LAFC swept Vancouver Whitecaps in the Conference Quarterfinals. This year, there will be a third and deciding game as Vancouver defeated LAFC, 3-0, at BC Place to force that deciding game on Friday.

The Whitecaps got on the board after just ten minutes when Brian White’s cross went to Stuart Armstrong whose shot was blocked, but went to the feet of Ryan Gauld who struck it home putting the hosts ahead. Three minutes later, the Whitecaps doubled their advantage as Gauld’s shot was accidentally deflected in by Ryan Hollingshead.

Denis Bouanga had two chances to pull one back for LAFC at the start of the second half, but both were off target. Bouanga had another great chance in the 61st minute, but was stopped by Yohei Takaoka. LAFC would finally score seven minutes later, but for the other team again. Brian White’s low cross was deflected in by Eddie Segura.

The bounces were not going LAFC’s way on this night, and now have a third game to contend with at BMO Stadium on Friday night. Kickoff will be at 8pm Pacific time on Apple TV as part of the MLS Season Pass.
