Charlotte FC is taking on Cruz Azul at home in their second match of Leagues Cup.
Charlotte FC and Cruz Azul faced off once before, in the round of 32 in the 2023 Leagues Cup, with Charlotte winning 4-3 on penalties, after a 0-0 finish in regulation. This season, Charlotte has played one Leagues Cup match already with a 1-0 loss to the Philadelphia Union, while Cruz Azul is first of Leagues Cup.
Before the 1-0 loss to Philadelphia in Leagues Cup, Charlotte has been in good form, going three games unbeaten on the road leading into Leagues Cup play. In MLS play, Charlotte is sixth in the Eastern Conference and has allowed the second fewest goals in all of MLS.
Cruz Azul enters Leagues Cup in first place in Liga MX through four matches, going 3-0-1 and outscoring their opponents by eight goals.
Charlotte is in a must win scenario, needing to win in regulation or in penalties to avoid being eliminated.
The match is set for Wednesday, July 31 with kickoff at 8:00 p.m. EST and will be available to stream on Apple TV MLS Season Pass.
