Charlotte FC came away with a point in their midweek matchup with Orlando City SC after a 2-2 draw.
Charlotte FC went up 1-0 early with a goal from Kerwin Vargas in the 12th minute but had to play a man down for a majority of the match after a red card being given to Scott Arfield in the 35th minute. Charlotte was able to hold on for the remainder of the half to have a 1-0 lead going into the half.
Charlotte made no changes being down a man coming out of the half with a couple chances generated on the counterattack early in the second half. Orlando City was able to equalize in the 64th minute with a goal from Duncan McGuire.
Charlotte subbed off Kerwin Vargas and Liel Abada for Ben Bender and Brandt Bronico in the 68th minute. Patrick Agyemang and Bronico were able to link up for a goal in the 77th minute to retake the lead 2-1.
Charlotte’s lead did not last long before Orlando City equalized again in the 81st minute with a goal from Facundo Torres. Charlotte was able to hold on for the remainder of the match to get a point.
Charlotte FC’s next match will be on the road against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, June 20 with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST and streaming on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
