Audi announce Formula 1 entry following 2026 regulation changes

German manufacturer Audi has confirmed its entry to Formula 1 following confirmation of the sport’s 2026 engine regulations.

The brand has been linked with an entry to the sport for some time, and has been involved in negotiations with F1 alongside fellow-VW Group manufacturer Porsche.

Following the confirmation of the sport’s engine regulations, which aim to promote sustainability and simplification of the hybrid power unit in 2026, Audi took to confirm its place in the sport as an engine supplier.

However, the announcement did not specify what team Audi would supply when it arrives to F1 in four years time, but it is expected to partner with the Sauber Group, currently known as Alfa Romeo F1 Team.

This would give the team the chance to become a works operation while Audi will not have to spend millions on building an operation from the ground up.
