Leeds United out for revenge as they visit the London Stadium to face West Ham

A controversial FA Cup Third Round tie between the two sides merely a week ago saw the Hammers come out on top, courtesy of some dubious VAR decision-making.

Jarrod Bowen was judged not to have been involved in the Manuel Lanzini opener, despite coming back from an offside position.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side will return to East London with the intention of getting their own back. This time however, it will be league points on offer.

West Ham’s fairytale season continues to catch the eye. They could extend their top four lead over Arsenal to five points with victory on Sunday, although the Gunners will have two games in hand following their North London derby postponement.

The Irons have made a perfect start to 2022, having won their opening three games. And manager David Moyes boasts a perfect record against his opposite number Bielsa, winning four out of four encounters. Therefore, those blowing bubbles will feel encouraged heading into this one.

Meanwhile Leeds are experiencing some second season difficulty, hovering over the relegation zone with 19 points from 19 games.

United are yet to win back to back Premier League matches this season, so after their 3-1 win against Burnley two weeks ago, another win against West Ham would break that duck and create some much needed space at the bottom of the pile.

It is worth noting that the visitors have been the ones to watch in recent times as 25 goals have been scored in their previous five top-flight games. During this period however, Bielsa’s side have picked up just four points from a possible 15.

Moyes has no new injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s clash. Tomas Soucek, who missed the victory over Norwich mid-week, should be back available for selection.

Leeds boss Bielsa looks likely to have Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo and Pascal Struijk available again, although Diego Llorente will miss out through suspension.
