Salford Red Devils look to end winless run against Hull KR.

Its round nine of the Betfred Super League as Richard Marshall’s Salford Red Devils look to finally get a second win on the board as they face Hull KR on Friday night.

Salford have struggled in recent weeks after a tough run of fixtures wasn’t helped by an astounding amount of injuries which has left the Devils down to the bare bones. But Marshall still seemed positive in his pre-match conference, with a much needed break allowing a couple of absentees to be back fit to play this weekend.

Marshall stated during his press conference that he ‘had a couple back’ including the likes of Joe Burgess and a new signing in the form of Ben Davies who joins on loan from St Helens on an initial short term loan.

When asked about Davies, Marshall went on to describe the 21 year old as a ‘strong robust centre who’s young and a bit raw but at the same time he’s played Super League and I’m looking forward to seeing him play.’

Salford will still be without the likes of Callum Watkins who ‘is probably going to be out for about 10-12 weeks’ as well as Kev Brown who is likely to be out for a similar period of time, meaning Salford are still struggling and the encounter with Hull KR will be no easy challenge.

As for the Yorkshire side, they will be looking to build on a mixed first eight games with four wins and four loses, and finally put a run together to end a string of inconsistency throughout their results so far.

Last time out, Rovers welcomed back 4,000 fans to Craven Park, and after a dominant display against Super League strugglers Leigh Centurions, they will be looking to get back to back wins on home turf. A hat-trick of tries from Ryan Hall saw Rovers claim their fourth win of the campaign, leaving Leigh eight games without a single point on the board.

But with Salford only two points better off than new-comers Leigh, Marshall will be determined to see his side have a change of fortunes and pick up a win on Friday evening. It certainly appears that the next small run of fixtures for Salford provide the Devils with an opportunity to pick up points and looking up the table rather than down.
