Relegation six-pointer at St Andrew’s will see both sides crying out for three points

Just four points separate opponents Coventry City and Nottingham Forest in the Championship after 26 games as both sides are desperate for an extra three points to ensure they don’t get relegated at the end of the season.

The two couldn’t manage to pick up more than a point at the weekend, with Coventry’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham City and Forest playing out a tedious stalemate at the City Ground with Barnsley.

Forest’s new signing Filip Krovinovic from Benfica impressed on his debut against Barnsley and gaffer Chris Hughton will be hoping the Croatian can have a similar impact on Tuesday night.

Goals are something the Reds are most definitely lacking, and supporters will be delighted as Forest completed the short-term signing of striker Glenn Murray from Brighton.

Murray was on loan at Watford from the start of the current campaign and now will finish the rest of the season under his former manager Chris Hughton.

The former Norwich and Brighton manager told the media regarding the arrival:

“He always wants to score goals. But of course at this stage in his career as well he’s an experienced player and I think any changing room can always use that kind of experience and knowledge in their squad. Really delighted to have him.”

Unfortunately for the team, defender Scott McKenna is expected to be out for “weeks rather than days” according to Hughton after damaging his ankle in training.

Midfielder Samba Sow, who picked up a knock in Saturday’s game against Barnsley, is “touch and go” for tomorrow’s showdown and Ryan Yates will also miss out due to injury.

The Sky Blues’ top scorer Gustavo Hamer struck once again at the weekend against Birmingham and will be looking to find the net yet again as Coventry look to survive in the Championship.

Coventry have announced the signing of highly-rated young forward Fabio Tavares on a permanent transfer from Rochdale for an undisclosed fee. He will initially join City’s development squad and look to work his way up to the first team soon.

Sky Blues fans were delighted with former Premier League winner Matty James’ performance against Birmingham and his midfield partnership with Callum O’Hare and Hamer is definitely something to look forward to.

Manager Mark Robins confirmed that they’ll be without defender Fankaty Dabo for the foreseeable future, with his injury timeline being between one and three months.

Michael Rose and Tyler Walker-Robins are also close to returning to action and are both running after a spell on the sidelines.
