West Ham look to maintain strong form with visit of Liverpool

West Ham host Liverpool looking to extend their six game unbeaten run, whilst the Reds look to make it back to back wins for the first time this season since their thrashing of Crystal Palace in December.

David Moyes’ is side head into this game fifth in the Premier League table, just one behind their opponents Liverpool in 4th who are four points behind leaders Manchester City, having played an extra game.

The hosts claimed their fourth straight top-flight win this season beating Crystal Palace 2-3 in midweek. Tomas Soucek’s first-half double set West Ham on their way before Craig Dawson sealed the victory.

Liverpool ended a run of five league games without a win after a convincing 3-1 win against Tottenham on Thursday. Goals from Roberto Firmino, Trent-Alexander Arnold and Sadio Mane were enough to seal all three points.

The Reds will have to watch out for the likes of Tomas Soucek who already has seven goals for West Ham this season and Michail Antonio who has scored more goals against Liverpool in the Premier league than any other player for the Hammers.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will look to continue on their unbeaten run in London, having already defeated Chelsea earlier in the season, demolished Crystal Palace and the recent win against Tottenham.

West Ham are winless in nine Premier League matches against the Merseyside club, losing seven and drawing two. Liverpool are unbeaten in their last four visits to the London Stadium with the last time the Hammers beat the Reds coming in 2016.

Liverpool have had major injury problems in defence this season but West Ham also had problems conceding goals, only kept one clean sheet in their last six premier league games at home.

After their meeting earlier in the season at Anfield, a game where the Reds were victory in, coming from behind to beat the Hammers 2-1 to go top of the league. Since then, Liverpool have only picked up 20 points from a possible 39.

David Moyes has done an amazing job with the London club this season, considering they were 17th in the Premier League last term, fighting for their lives just one point above the relegation zone. The Hammers now eye up a Europe finish.

A win for West Ham would see them leapfrog Liverpool in the Premier League table however a win for the Reds would see them close the gap on Man City depending on their result against Sheffield United.

Team News

West Ham’s only injury concern is of wing-back Arthur Masuaku who is still recovering from a knee surgery.

Jessie Lingard sealed a loan move from Manchester United yestersay but is not expected to be in the squad on the weekend with the move not being finalised in time for him to be involved.
