AFC Wimbledon face the tricky challenge of overachieving Crewe Alexandra

Glyn Hodges’ Wimbledon who are defeated in five league matches travel to the Alexandra stadium in an attempt to overturn the woeful form. With an inform Joe Pigott, Wimbledon could overturn their form.

Pigott has mustered 12 goals across all competitions so far this season for the dons ahead of the sides 23^rd league match but sit just one point from safety. David Artell’s side can move into the play-offs with a win but only if Charlton drop points against Swindon, as well as possibly extending their unbeaten run to ten games.

Artell is formally of Crewe but has also played for their rivals Port Vale who currently play in League Two. The current manager has remained with the Railwaymen for just over four years now but the former Gibraltar international managed to prevent the side from going down to non-league.

This fixture holds plenty of value between both clubs, one on the hunt for a chance of the play-offs and the other fighting off relegation.

Last time these two met, Crewe took three points back to Cheshire in a 2-1 win over in South London, with two Wimbledon equalising in the last minute through Ryan Longman a point looked likely, but Finney had other ideas, snatching all three points for the visitors in the 91^st minute in a dominant performance for Alexandra.

A win for the dons could be season defining for Hodges’ men, as we’re set for a cracker between two teams who know how to find the back of the net but this hasn’t been the case in Wimbledon’s two previous fixtures having conceded seven and scoring none albeit against the League’s top sides, Portsmouth and Sunderland.
