Key talking points as West Brom claim bragging rights over rivals Wolves

Sam Allardyce’s West Brom gained a much-needed three points against local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

A Matheus Pereira brace either side of a Semi Ajayi header meant The Baggies came back and were 3-2 victors at Molineux Stadium.

Wolves, who initially recovered from going a goal down themselves, went 2-1 ahead thanks to goals from Fabio Silva and Willy Boly.

Allardyce masterclass

In typical Allardyce style, late defending from the visitors ensured they took all three points from the match.

With all three goals coming from set-pieces, a well-organised West Brom side took their chances well.

The late introduction of forward Hal Robson-Kanu massively helped the side take the sting out of the game, with his experience allowing them to keep the ball late on.

An eventful afternoon for Boly

Wolves defender Boly was everywhere this afternoon.

His early clumsiness awarded the visitors a penalty as he tripped Callum Robinson inside the box with Pereira converting from the spot.

The Frenchman made up for his mistake in the 38^th minute with a stroke of genius to set up Fabio Silva with a superb back-heel, with the latter converting.

Just five minutes later, Boly converted from a corner to give Wolves the lead.

All in all, it was a typical Boly performance as he attracted drama and was one of the main talking points throughout.

The start of a positive run of form for Fabio Silva?

Summer-signing Silva scored his first Premier League goal from open play this afternoon.

The 18-year-old has taken time to adjust to the league following his £35million transfer from Porto.

Silva, who has shown sparks of brilliance since replacing injured Raul Jimenez, showcased his capability with a well-taken finish this afternoon.

Nuno Espirito Santo will hope the attacker can now begin a run of good form as his side travel to Chorley in the FA Cup next Friday.

Patrick Cutrone could’ve equalised

The 23-year-old substitute was introduced in the 79^th minute as Wolves looked to push on and find an equaliser.

The game was almost brought level when Italian striker Cutrone found himself in space before firing a volley over the crossbar late on.

After being called back from loan with Fiorentina, Cutrone was unfortunate not to give his side a point upon his return to the side.
