The magic of the FA Cup see’s Marine of the Northern Premier League Division One North West draw Premier League opposition Tottenham Hotspur in what is going to be tie of the Third Round.

The tier eight side who knocked out National League South outfit Havant and Waterlooville, in the last minute of extra time in their game on Sunday November 29th, are the lowest ranked side left in the competition.

The last team from the eighth tier to advance to the FA Cup Third Round was Chasetown in  the 2007-2008 season when they lost to runners up Cardiff City.

Marine Head Coach Neil Young spoke to Prost International after learning their opposition in the next round of the FA Cup:

“Unbelievable draw. To get seven games under our belt to get here, that’s the reward.

“For the players, the committee and the supporters here – it’s unbelievable for us.

Marine fans know getting past Tottenham side will be extremely difficult as the Premier League side has international talent bolstered throughout their squad .

England Captain Harry Kane will be one of the many Tottenham players to play in the cup tie when they visit Marine in early January.

The non-league outfit could gain a bit more revenue from the game if it is selected by either the BBC or BT as one of their featured matches.

Tickets for the cup tie will be limited due to the current COVID-19 restrictions meaning many Marine and Tottenham fans will be left disappointed not to get a ticket to see them face Premier League opponents.

Marnie boss Young is hoping that the stadium will be able to have fans in the ground when the Premier League side come to town:

“Hopefully by the time it comes around we’ll have 1600 fans in here, as long as nothing changes.”

Who said the magic of the FA Cup has died because this is a dream tie that many Non-League fans and clubs could only dream about when they enter the competition in the early qualifying rounds.
