National League Roundup – Torquay continue to top the table

Connor Lemonheigh-Evans struck a late winner for National League leaders Torquay United to claim all three points at Halifax Town on Saturday.

The Gulls opened the scoring on 17 minutes when Asa Hall netted for his third strike in as many games. Halifax drew level in the second half, Jamie Allen who scored against Notts County on Tuesday to salvage a point, was on target again.

But Lemonheigh-Evans fired in the winner to maintain Torquay’s position at the top of the table, whilst Halifax suffered their seventh straight loss.

Woking moved up to second in the table with a convincing 4-1 victory against Barnet at the Laithwaite.

Despite playing with ten men for almost an hour when Charlie Cooper received his second of the afternoon in just two minutes, the Cards ran out comfortable winners.

Kane Ferdinand-who bagged a brace against Dover in midweek- struck in the seventh minute. Woking doubled their advantage when Jerome Binnon-Williams headed into his own net.

Two short handed goals for the hosts sealed the points with Max Kretzschmar and Dave Tarpey on the mark. There was still time for Barnet to get a late goal through Michael Petrasso’s penalty kick, which was scant consolation for the side from Hertfordshire.

Wealdstone and Sheffield United shared six goals and a share of the points on Saturday.

Craig Eastmond snatched a last-gasp point for the Surrey side in the 95^th minute of play.

On loan striker Isaac Olaofe celebrated his 21^st Birthday opened the scoring for Sutton in the fourth minute. The visitors moved 2-0 ahead in the 11^th minute when Omar Bugiel scored.

Wealdstone hit back and halved the deficit when Ross Lafayette headed home before the striker grabbed his second on 67 minutes, which looked like rescuing a point for Wealdstone, before Eastmond’s late effort.

Chris Bush scored a late equaliser as Bromley gained a share of the points at Maidenhed United in a 2-2 draw.

The home side broke the deadlock on the half hour mark when Danilo Orsi-Dadome tapped home. Shaun Donnellan gave the hosts a two-goal cushion before Bromley got themselves back into the game just before the hour mark when Reeco Hackett-Fairchild fired home before Bush’s late strike.

Goals from Rory McAuley and Adam Marriott earned Kings Lynn a win over fellow strugglers Dover on Saturday.

The visitors were still in the contest late in the game, but lost Ryan Hanson to a straight red card to diminish any chance of getting something from the game.

Luke Young’s effort was the difference between the sides at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday when Wrexham entertained Aldershot on Saturday.

The goal proved enough for back to back victories for Wrexham, their first since January.

Substitute Jamie McDonald scored a late winner as Altringham beat Boreham Wood. The goal coming from a defensive mix up from Wood which allowed a simple tap in for McDonald.
